Next Up - Drew Sidora

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Drew Sidora is a Chi-Town native that’s made South Florida the new home for one of her many passions, music. This actress, singer/songwriter recently signed to Slip N Slide Records and is putting in work. Pursuing her passions, music and acting go hand in hand for her. Drew Sidora isn’t new to the music game. She has been writing and recording music for almost decade and has her own collection of unheard tracks. After a preview of these tracks and a listening session with Miami’s own Explicit, it’s evident that Slip N Slide Records has a star on the roster.

Ms. Sidora wears many hats and has her eyes set on longevity in the entertainment industry. Not only a singer and songwriter but, she is also an actress. Many might recognize her as Chantel from “That’s So raven” on Disney Channel. A few of movies and television shows she’s been in are: “Girlfriends,” “The Game,” “Step Up,” “Love Jones,” “White Chicks,” “Wild Hogs” and will appear in five more movies this year. You best believe she stays busy!

Next Up - Suenalo! A beat in the right direction

One of Miami’s up and coming bands are Suenalo. Their vibe is described as “AfroLatinBabymakinDescargaFunk” at least that’s how they describe it on their profile on Facebook.

A nine-piece collective that’s been perfecting its shape-shifting Latin funk for nearly four years. Formed in 2002 after a series of jam sessions in Little Havana’s Monkey Village, a communal home of musicians and artists, Suénalo has undergone a number of personnel changes but its unique musical essence has remained intact, a mélange of Western, Latin, and Pan-African styles that has won the band legions of loyal fans and Best Local Latin Rock Band honors from the Miami New Times.

“It’s tough to encapsulate the sounds of a city into one medium, let alone an 11-tracks disc. However, through the mixture of Colombian Cumbia, Cuban rhythms, Caribbean steel drums, good ol’ fashioned rhymes, and melodic vocals, Suenalo smacks any wannabe jamband right in the grill with its multi-cultural sabor on this debut album.” - Sir Esquire / Miami New Times
