“Karaoke is something you usually do for fun at home or with friends in a private room,” says Shane Battier. “But it’s even better to put on flashy outfits and crazy wigs and do it with your teammates in public for a great cause while making people laugh. Instead of just seeing us as serious professionals on the court, this type of event just brings the energy level up and makes it fun for everyone there.”
Battioke 2014 is back and if it was anything like last year, get ready for a great show. Miami HEAT forward Shane Battier and his wife, Heidi, will host the third annual “South Beach Battioke” celebrity karaoke event at the Fillmore in Miami Beach on January 27th at 8:00pm. Proceeds from South Beach Battioke will benefit The Battier Take Charge Foundation, which was founded by Shane and Heidi as a vehicle for awarding college scholarships to deserving at-risk high school students in Miami.

Last year’s event (Battioke 2013) raised $180,000 and included notable Miami HEAT players such as LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Mike Miller, Chris Andersen and HEAT President Pat Riley. Making a special appearance this year will be “The Hangover” star, Ken Jeong, friend of Battier.
