Yasiin Bey (aka Mos Def) force fed under standard Guantánamo Bay

As Ramadan begins, more than 100 hunger-strikers in Guantánamo Bay continue their protest. More than 40 of them are being force-fed. A leaked document sets out the military instructions, or standard operating procedure, for force-feeding detainees. In this four-minute film made by Human Rights organisation Reprieve and Bafta award-winning director Asif Kapadia, US actor and rapper Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), experiences the procedure.distressing

Mos Def aka Yasiin Bey is hands down one of my favorite MC’s on the planet. He is not only an incredible artist that’s rocked with the best in the Hip-Hop game but he stands for what he believes in. Being an activist isn’t about attending an “Occupy” rally or just sending out emails. It’s about getting involved to make a difference. Now looking at this video Yassin Bey (Mos Def) has put himself through what the prisoners of Guantanamo Bay are going through as they fast for Ramadan. If you don’t know what Ramadan is I suggest you look it up. Not an easy thing to go through. After watching the video… Its hard to believe that this is done twice a day to one person. Much respect to Yasiin Bey for doing this.
